Now our travels take us to Bayfield, WI by the Apostle Islands. We haven’t been here in over 30 years. We wondered how much it had changed. Apparently not much

The marina was a little more sheltered and they had come really cool sitting spots by the docks.

We did come during the week and there were quite a few places that weren’t even open because of staff shortages. We found that to be true in a lot of the places we visited. So we did a lot of walking around the town and checking it out. They did have this boat museum, and it was Free!

It had some interesting boats and artifacts in it. Some of the displays were donated by the commercial fishermen. Not a very big place but fun to go and check out.
The restaurants that were open were few and far between. We ordered some coffee at one of the places we stopped at for breakfast. When we got the bill, the lady didn’t charge us for our coffee. We thought it was an oversite so we called it to her attention. She said sometimes she didn’t charge for coffee. She got an extra big tip

Another place we were going to go to for lunch didn’t open till 11:30 so we piddly farted around until then. Once we walked up to the restaurant, it was closed. Probably because of lack of tourists and workers. That was ok, we crossed the street and had lunch at an outdoor deck that overlooked the harbor. You had to order and pick up your own drinks and food, but we were down with that. And it was good and a reasonable price.
We had to check out the marina on our walk about town. There we saw this boat

Do you think this guy likes to fish? Gary was jealous that guy had more rods than him.
You can also tell you’re on one of the Great Lakes

More sail boats than power boats. You almost need a sail to get anywhere on this big lake.
We also walked thru this nice little “park”.

They had a few old commercial fishing boats in this park. This one they added some little bird houses to them.
We also saw this really different motorcycle

The guy who owned this must of worked with metal, huh?
We found a nice gazebo to sit in to get out of the sun and heat. While sitting there I noticed a big commotion in the water

You can’t see real well in this picture but it is a mama loon and her babies. It looked like she was teaching them how to fish. It was very cool to watch.
I also saw this guy on the edge of the water

I know he is supposed to scare the geese away so they don’t poop anywhere but come on! This guy looks like he is ready to take a dump himself. How about this guy instead?

And maybe you could put some legs on these fellas. Geese aren’t that stupid are they?
After we saw the town, we meandered back to our campsite

Where we had another gourmet meal

What a gourmet cook I am.
Well, after checking everything out, we were glad to see that some things don’t change too much.
What GREAT photos!
We’ll have to go there next time with you guys and take a walk. Our experience was Very different from yours (the last time we were there -10 or so years ago).
That’s a funny position for that wolf … and why no legs? Unless they spin in the wind? Then maybe legs would slow them down 😉
How cool to see Mama Loon teaching her babies.
Thanks for sharing.
We went to Door County for 3 days, 3 weeks ago for leaf season and found the same issue with restaurants and gift shops. We went midweek to avoid the weekend groups and very little was open. The signs said they were, but the doors were locked. We stopped at a grocery store and bought vittles and some deli stuff for dinners in the retro. We usually have breakfast at the trailer, so enjoyed bacon, eggs, toast and coffee every morning.. 🙂
I remember those old fishing boats. Last time I saw one it was still in use. Tied up to the dock next to a couple of other ones. I’m NOT old just my memories are.
