We made a trip up north again….into the tundra. Of course, it was hotter than Hades here so, I’ll take a little tundra time 😉.
We make an offer to a few of our friends to be a UPS delivery van for them. We offered to take a few things from Florida to Minnesota so they don’t have to ship them. With the van that wasn’t a problem. But this year we traded in the van and bought a Subaru Ascent.
Nice car with lots of safety features but not quite as big as the van. So, a few days before we left, Gary got the car all ready for traveling.
Everything in front of that load bar will be for our stuff. Really? Our stuff? Who am I kidding, most of the stuff in front of the load bar is Smokey’s. With a litter box, his food dish, his cage and his bed, he takes up almost the whole second row seating section…but he is sooooo cute 😉
Anyway, after Gary got the car ready for travel, we stopped over at the first house that had things for us to bring back up north. Not bad, a couple of small boxes. Plenty of room for them. We stopped over at the second house and found
Holy Hoot! That is a lot of stuff! Luckily Gary is the BEST packer of anyone I know
And whala! He got everything in but the shelves (He even had room for a few of our things
). Good job Captain!
After everything was securely packed, we were off. We had good traveling weather and the cars adaptive cruise control made the trip pretty nice. We made a stop in Paduka Kentucky on the way up. We wanted to check out their new dock and to see how high the water was
Nice dock and the water didn’t seem that high to us. We had always wanted to stop to see this new dock, now we have. It would have been nice to have this when we drove by with the Navigator. Oh well, we decided to continue on with our journey.
We arrived in Minnesota on our planned day and made our first delivery. My gosh! The car is almost empty LOL. Afterwards we stopped in at Woodies in Bayport for a congratulatory beer
After we were all settled in at our daughters house, our first adventure in Minnesota was to get a group tattoo. So Gary, our daughter and I went to Anchors End in Hudson and got tattoos.
Our daughter’s tattoo looks the best, young skin and all LOL. Gary has to go back when we come back in the winter time to get his finished. This is what Gary’s is supposed to look like
That is a leg in case you were wondering.
He needs a little more shading done. Even so, he has gotten quite a few complements on it. Who knows what we’ll get in 2024 😊. Assuming we are still alive and kickin 😊

NICE vehicle!
Good job packing Cap’n!
Good you have a “tundra” location to come up too, when it’s too hot down there. Any hankering for moving back 😉 we bought a house 4 miles south of Hudson and will be moving soon too. 19 years in 1 place is long enough.
Good you have a “tundra” location to come up to, when it’s too danged hot down there.
Any hankering for moving back ? We bought a house 4 miles south of Hudson and will be moving soon. You could watch the weeds grow in your former front yard.. 😉
