We have been looking at boats trying to find the new Touch of Class. Here is one we looked at. Anybody that is old school will appreciate this one
Of course this is the way we saw it
This is a 1979 Fairchild Scout. It is 30 feet long and has 1 diesel engine. It is fashioned after a 30’s looking boat but it is all fiberglass with lots of brass on it. The windows are mahogany,
as is all the wood in the boat. Here are some more pictures
And the most important part
which as you can see is clean as a whistle :). Some of the problems with the boat are, there are no railing around the bow which means there is no way Jose I am going out there. There is no windless either which means Gary would have to Strong Arm the anchor up. Plus there is no refridgerator, no air, a pump handle for the faucet and the toilet looks like this
There is also no swim platform so if one of us fell over board, good luck getting us back up, specially graceful me ;). Plus, it is much to heavy for our slip not to mention that it is 37 years old and they only made 12 of them. Soooooo….we are thinking about it cause it is a very cool boat in near perfect condition but lets see what else is out there.

The deciding factor appears to be the weight, since it would be difficult at best to fit it on your hoist. Oh yeah, and getting back in should the First Mate fall overboard …
from Smokey – “Bye Mom! But wait, who’ll feed me? Who’ll be my Mom! Hey Captain, come about! We boys NEED her!”
It is cute and clean but doesn’t seem to be what you are really looking for.
Hurry and get a boat though, cause we want to go out to those deserted islands we keep reading about with millions of shells laying around… 🙂
I was thinking you guys were going to buy a small cruiser. I wish we had our 26 foot Sea Ray Sundancer. It was not too big but had everything except A/C which could be installed easily. It was pretty fast too. I also liked the fact we had a trailer for it and could store it at home – no dependence on the marina. We are looking at slip rates at this marina. Cheap considering the boat is used year long. I have never had a boat in salt water before. Should be a new adventure. http://www.portofpa.com/Index.aspx?NID=186 James goes up to the marina area a lot. Attached is a snap shot of him on the marina web cam. He calls me and I save the webpage. LOL. Take care. Â
When we read the ads for boat tours, they show pics of small islands with millions of shells waiting to be gathered. They claim there are hundreds of these south of Ft. Myers. Uh huh and no one else goes there for shells ?? 🙂
