We got all unloaded and settled in to our base camp and we had out next camping trip all planned. The next site we went to was called O’Neil Creek campground. This time we went with my daughter and her family. It isn’t a place Gary and I would normally go because it was too family orientated. Not that we don’t like families but we prefer the nice quiet places.
We went over a weekend, so lots more people than we are used to. This place was kind of unique in that they had some kid drive a golf cart to show you where your site was and then he moved the picnic table around so you could get your camper backed in where you wanted it. Kind of handy to have the young muscle drag that picnic table from spot to spot until you finally decided where to put it. I remember dragging those picnic tables on the beach, those suckers were heavy. We had 4 people, one on each corner, to move them. They are probably heavier now that we are old and decrepit.

My daughter arrived before us and had her site all set up. We just brought over our chairs and helped set up the open sided tent

Wala! Ready for the weekend. She picked a really good spot, right on the water. We tried to get one by her but all the sites were taken, so we settled for one close to her and close to the restrooms LOL.

They rent tubes here so you can float down this river. It is a nice flow and not very deep if someone happens to fall off their tube. Our son-in-law showed up later, after work and he brought the kids. It is always a little easier to set things up without those little munchkins trying to “help”

Saturday started out ok but then the rain started. It was a good thing the tent was up over the picnic table. It gave us some place to sit out of the rain. And boy, did it rain! We had a little river flowing thru the camp site

But you know what, people don’t let that stop them from having fun. The campsite had some activities scheduled for the kids. One of them was water fight. You were supposed to grab whatever water apparatus you could find, be that water balloons, water guns, buckets of water…whatever. Then you were suppose to be out by the playground at a certain time. Then a few of the teenagers that worked there got in a work truck and they drove around the playground throwing water balloons, squirting squirt guns etc. and then the kids tried to get them wet and anyone else who was around them. It didn’t matter that it was raining buckets. Everyone had a great time.
It turns out quite a few of these sites are what they called “seasonal” people. Those are the people that pay annually and get to keep their RV right there and have the same spot year after year.

We checked on the price and actually, it wasn’t too bad. Cheaper than having a cabin I think.
When there was a lull in the rain, I did see these rather inventive individuals

Kind of the lazy man’s way to fill an ice cooler but I love the transportation. The guy in front reminds me of other people I have seen that have the big fifth wheels. For those of you that don’t know what a fifth wheel is

These need to be hauled by a heavy duty pick up truck. The are a little hard to maneuver around the campground so they have a large plastic container, that has wheels on the bottom of it. They dump their waste from the 5th wheeler to the container, attach the container to the hitch on their truck, then drag the container to the dump station to dump it. That way they don’t have to move the 5th wheel just to dump it if they are staying some place for a while. I’d hate to see one of those little containers go flying off the pick up truck if they were driving too fast.

One of the nice things about this place was seeing as it rained most of the day on Saturday, we were able to order pizza and other food and they delivered to our site! What a deal! Reasonable prices and it tasted good too.
We did get Gary to play some card games with us, what a trooper, but mostly he just kept us company while the real card sharks did their thing. We tried not to beat the kids too many times.
We left a little early Sunday, the weather wasn’t too promising for that day either. But, I am sure we’ll be back next year if this is were everyone wants to go. Next time, we pick the place on the water instead of the place by the bathroom

That right there, in layman’s terms, is called a “turd taxi”… 🙂
That doesn’t look like it would take much rain. To raise that river high enough to get your tires wet, Not to mention everything else on the ground.
But what a nice spot right there on the river.
