Is COVID really over?

It has been a little over a year since my last post. What have we been doing besides staying home and wiping down everything that comes into the house, including Gary?

Well our gym closed so we had to take our walks outside which wasn’t too bad until it got so hot you could fry an egg on the sidewalk….and that is at 7:00 AM.

At least there were some intertaining things to look at while we walked.

Even the mail boxes have to wear a mask.
Parking spot dividers in a consignment shop parking lot
Holy Cow! They have some really big Easter Bunnies here!

We also saw some unusual down spots that we discovered on our walks. But I don’t know, just think of the junk that will get stuck in those little tiny pineapples, sounds like more work than they are worth.

More Pineapple down spots.

Anyone remember the norfork pine we had in our house? Gary cut it back when it hit our ceiling. The ones here are amazing. The first picture is of the whole tree, the second picture is the top half of the tree that is COVERED in vines.

Same Norfork but covered in vines.

We did see beautiful sun rises.

We took our strolls at about 6:00, 6:15 each morning. We were trying to avoid the extreame heat, especially as we rolled thru summer. Sometimes we’d only get to the end of our block and we were both so hot and sweaty,

we had to turn around and go back home. That sucked. You’d think we’d remember to bring some water with us, wouldn’t ya?

We did see some other cool things. A private Beach

A new kind of palm tree…it has pom poms

Some other kind of bush with blooms

And we found some wild life while we did our walking. This is one of their feeding stations

We only saw it a few times, and luckily it didn’t attack us ;).

There was a home in our neighborhood that was a rental. The owner got rid of the renters and then put the house on the market. It was on the market so long, a homeless person and his bog moved in for a while. Shortly after they kicked him out, someone bought the place. It was going to be a teardown. Here is what it looked like in April of last year.

Here is what it looks like today

Yah, here in Florida nothing moves very fast. We have a house across the canel, same thing. Everything moves slower in the south they say. I’m just glad I don’t plan on building a new anything anytime soon.

We did do some other fun stuff while we quarantined at home, we got to see SpaceX take off

The orange blip is the space craft in this picture. Oh, how do you like the light the guy across the canal has on his boat. Cool, huh?
Hammerhead

A friend of ours here went out fishing and caught this baby. Needless to say he cut that sucker loose.

So ya know we have to keep our distance from people and any door to door sales people are SOL during all this but those Jehovah Witness, well they still got you covered. Instead of visiting door to door, they send you a hand written letter along with a pamphlet. They are still getting the word out, pandamic or no pandamic

Well that about covers our year of isolation. I’ll leave you with this fine picture of me as I go out into the cruel world and forage for food.

We’ve had a pretty dull year too. But you having a BOAT ??? I’d have worn that sucker out going places at least once a week.
Barb hasn’t been to her office in 13 months and is retiring at the end of May, so will never work in an office again ! She is REALLY looking forward to that.
Good to finally see a post form you guys.

It is funny…it is to HOT to drive the boat around during the summer here. And you need gas for it. The marinas were closed for a while too down here. We took it out quite a bit though, it got us out of the house. Congrats to Barb for retiring. Hope you are enjoying your new house.

Hmmm.. didn’t think about the marina’s closing. Seems they would have been an “essential” part of Florida life 🙂 Good to hear you did get out on the water.
We were in Homosassa for the last 2 weeks of Feb enjoying the warmth.
We rented a home on a canal for our stay and a pontoon for a day. Little chilly for snorkeling, but we saw many Manatees in Chrystal River and drove all the way out to the Gulf, just to say we had seen it.
Drove down to Ft Meyers and bought a 2016 Honda CR-V to replace my aging HHR. I drove down with my trailer to haul the car back and Barb got to fly. She wasn’t going to drive that distance and I don’t stop but for a few hour nap in the back seat, which doesn’t work when she is with, so got back in 28 hours.. 😉

That is so cool about your being able to see SpaceX launch!
And I LOVE your attire! SO thankful it’s May, 2021!!!
