We had another short day today, only 44 miles and one lock. We seem to be doing a lot of short days. That’s all right with us because we find that we’d rather get up and leave early and arrive early than to run into problems with a lock or something and have to travel at night. We have heard nothing but horror stories about traveling at night, besides, you can’t see anything :), so what’s the fun in that?
The weather we have had so far on the trip has been super. Low 80’s during the day, high 50’s at night and no wind. Look at how smooth the water is
You can see the reflection of the shore
There is definitely some pretty scenery on the Tennessee.
We have also noticed that people’s boat houses are very impressive
And of course the houses are nothing to sneeze at either. I take pictures of what I think is a cool house
And then down the river there is another one

And another one
This Light House house was just featured on HGtv. Apparently the owner of the home is an architect and he added the light house to his home. The story about it was pretty cool. And now I have a picture of it!
I saw this cave with a fence around it
Turns out it is a bat cave
Never saw anything like that before. There is so much to see on this river, we are really enjoying our trip.
Next thing you know we have arrived at our destination, Goose Pond Colony Marina. This one is owed by a municipal.
The women here don’t seem to friendly though, everyone we said “Hi” to just ignores us. Well, pooh on them. They are missing out on meeting two interesting and handsome people! Their loss I guess, hee hee.

The municipal ownership is why those employees are unhappy and don’t care about the customers.
You’re right, poo on them !!
That is beautiful scenery. I’ve been looking at a cheap winter getaway in the Chattanooga area.
If you get bored, let me know, there are a couple I’d like eyes on. I do have a forum buddy that lives there and he would be happy to look too. In fact, if you want, I could put you guys in contact with John as a “guide” for things to see and do in the area. He’s retired and would probably be glad to pass along some ideas…:)
These were other boaters, not the employees. The employees were very nice and helpful.
We’d love to go eye things up for you, just give us an address and we’ll go in with camera and send you a report. Just give us any questions you might have.
We already know someone at this marina who has lived here all their lives so they are showing us the ropes and around the area. Thanks.
Indeed, the fuddy duds at Goose Colony missed out … not just on interesting company, but the chance to tell you some interesting stories! Their loss.
Did you know that on the same Chart as Goose Pond Marina (Chart 56) they have a submarine Crossing shown North of Marker 376 Just north of the road bridge. That was cool Submarines on the Tennessee River!
We’ll have to check that out when we go back down. We didn’t have the charts out this time when we traveled.
